Adventure Camps

Welcome to the MDI YMCA Adventure Camps! These are the best for kids who want a summer camp experience within an area that interests them. Take a look at what the Y has to offer this summer, there's something for everyone!

Registration can be done online or in person at the MDI YMCA. We ask that those who register online to turn in a physical registration/waiver to the MDI YMCA by emailing it to Taylor or mailing it in to 21 Park Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609. Taylor's email is childcare@mdiymca.org

Hiking Camp

Ages 7+          June 21-25

Kick off the summer with outdoor activity. Designed as a day hiking program, this Camp explores the wonders of our backyard. Hikes will take place in Acadia National Park with a goal of summiting a variety of different mountain tops. Campers should be comfortable hiking at a moderate pace for 3 hours a day. Campers should come prepared with water, lunch, snacks, and an extra layer. 

Swim Clinic: Freestyle

Ages 9+          June 28-July 1

Come swim at the Y! Kids will focus on a particular swim stroke at these clinics, making them better and safer swimmers!

Sports & Games Camp

Ages 7+          June 28-July 2

Join our YMCA in a week of playing multiple games and sports. This program is designed to get your camper moving and having fun in a team setting. Individual games and contests will be played as well. Come ply at the Y!

Swim Clinic: Breast Stroke

Ages 9+          July 5-8

Come swim at the Y! Kids will focus on a particular swim stroke at these clinics, making them better and safer swimmers!

Swim Clinic: Open Water @ Echo Lake

Ages 9+          July 12-15

Come swim at the Y! Kids will focus on a particular swim stroke at these clinics, making them better and safer swimmers!

Fishing Camp

Ages 7+          July 12-16 & August 9-13

Come get a line wet and be hooked! Join the MDI YMCA and hone your angler skills with this exciting week long camp. Learn the basics of bait selection, fishing knots, and explore the different types of fishing Maine has to offer. Bass, pickerel, sunfish and trout are just a few types of fish our YMCA anglers will be casting a line to catch. Campers may bring their own tackle and a pole; the Y will provide tackle and pole if your child does not have any. If over age 12, anglers will need to have a valid Maine State Fishing license. FISH ON!

Canoeing Camp

Ages 7+          July 19-23

MDI offers many fresh water bodies of water to explore! From rivers, brooks, ponds, and lakes, canoeing camp will explore the inland waters here on the island. Learn the fundamentals of paddling, water navigation, and safety skills. Come canoe with the MDI YMCA for a week of paddling fun and to learn a life time activity! 

Swim Clinic: Backstroke

Ages 9+          July 19-22

Come swim at the Y! Kids will focus on a particular swim stroke at these clinics, making them better and safer swimmers!

Performing Arts Camp

Ages 9+          CANCELLED

A week of learning the art of theater performing! This camp is designed for those campers who love the spotlight. If you want to learn the basics of acting, have fun with friends, and love being creative, then this camp is for you! Be a star at the Y’s Performing Arts Camp! 

Bouldering Camp

Ages 9+          July 26-30

MDI rocks! There are plenty of rocks to climb on Andover around here join the MDI YMCA for a week of exploring and climbing on rocks learn the art of bouldering and doing it safely during the week we will team up with a local climbing school and hit some big rocks.

Swim Clinic: Fly

Ages 9+          July 26-29

Come swim at the Y! Kids will focus on a particular swim stroke at these clinics, making them better and safer swimmers!

Running Camp

Ages 10+          CANCELLED

Fall in love with running! This camp gets your kids out on the trails expanding their lungs and strengthening their bodies as they learn under local Jennifer Britz, a long time runner and world champion snowshoer! Tie on your best running shoes and hit the trails!

Nature Lovers Camp

Ages 7+          August 16-20

Explore Acadia National Park and see the wonders that the forest has to offer. In this camp, we will explore different parts of the park and learn about the trees, plants, and animals that live in Acadia. We will spend time observing and taking photos of the nature we find. Come join the YMCA and find your love for nature!

Scholarships

Scholarships are available to all who need them. The MDI YMCA strives to ensure that all children get the camp experience they want regardless of their family's ability to pay. 

You can apply for Membership and Program Scholarships at the same time or you can apply for Program Scholarships without membership, the process is almost the same.

1. Bring your most recent 1040 tax form to the Y. (If you do not file, we will ask you for a Social Security or Disability Statement).

2. Complete a short MFA/Programs Scholarship Application and we will find the membership and/or program rate that works for you.

3. (Membership Addition) If you're applying for a Membership and Program Scholarship fill out a Membership Application.

4. Fill out your child's Camp Cadillac Registration/Waiver form.

5. Turn in all the  above documents. We cannot process your request until we have all the documents in hand. 

We strive to have the scholarships proccessed and applied within a week, however, the sooner you get your application in the better.
