Family Night Barbeque

5:30pm - Friday, June 13th

Join Childcare Director Sue Kropff and the 2008 Summer Camp Staff! Celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of a fabulous Camp 2008 Season! We will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs, playing games, rallying round the camp fire and enjoying s'mores. basketballK.C. Jones Basketball Camp
K.C. Jones, Dr. Phil Norton, Skip ChappelleCeltics Power! NBA Hall of Famer and former Celtics head Coach K.C. Jones is the kind of person every player looks up to as a true model of success. He devotes his full time and energy toward making camp a productive learning experience. Participants have a unique opportunity to learn from a man whose basketball accomplishments are virtually unequaled. A Boston Celtics legend both as a player and as a head coach, K.C. is one of only seven players in history to have won a NCAA Championship, Olympic Gold Medal and NBA Championship as a player, coach and assistant coach during his career. K.C. will be at camp almost daily this year! Scheduled to make an appearance is Skip Chappelle, the former U Maine Black Bears coach & Old Town High School legend himself. YMCA Basketball Camp
dribble Take it to the hoop! Learn dazzling basketball moves at the MDI YMCA while having fun and bonding with new friends and coaches. Camp focus is on fundamental basketball skills. This invigorating camp is designed to bring out the best in children by teaching sportsmanlike behavior and providing a deeper understanding of teamwork and responsibility.

 

Major League Soccer Camp
soccer girl The number one soccer program in the country comes to Bar Harbor once again for this annual event, run by a crew of international soccer experts. Players are guaranteed to improve skills during this action packed week. Each participant receives a t-shirt and soccer ball. Campers should bring shin guards and a water bottle to camp each day.

Sailing Camp
sailing Price is per session. Instructors Kate St. Denis and Dick Libby return for another season of fabulous fun on Frenchman Bay. Learn to sail, or improve on already learned skills. Camp features sailing education and lots of hands on time on the water. Participants need to obtain transportation to the Bar Harbor Yacht Club for 12:30pm class start time and 4:00pm class end time. There is no post care available. Participants should bring their own life jackets.

 

Beginner Gymnastics Camp

Balance, coordination and a positive attitude are developed through an energetic week of basic gymnastics movements. Children will have a great time as they run, jump, roll and swing while being introduced to a variety of gymnastics equipment.

 

Intermediate Gymnastics Camp
handstand Location: Town Hill Gymnastics Center
More advanced skills & a more in-depth focus on the apparatus are what differentiate this camp from the beginner level. Safety, fun, strength, flexibility and building confidence remain the primary goals of the program as children develop skills on the rings, parallel bars, high bar, vault, spring floor & pommel horse.

 

 

 

Lenny DeMuro Swim Camp
breaststroker Expert instruction during the two, daily pool sessions is guaranteed. Each day a different stroke is emphasized, with a special focus on speed training. Out of the water activities are also featured including group games, kickball, soccer, & capture the flag. Swimmers should have prior team experience, or by permission – Jim Willis sharks@mdiymca.org.

 

Springboard Diving Camp
diver Learn to fly! Come learn the basics of springboard diving, or improve already learned skills. Discover how to safely execute forward, back, inward, reverse and twisting dives. A combination of board and dry land practice will be used. Must be able to perform a basic forward dive. This is a multiage, multi-level group.
