Tommy Parham, Executive Director,
Tommy comes to Mount Desert Island from North Tazewell, VA with over 30 years of experience working in the YMCA. In Virginia he served as execuative director at the Four Seasons YMCA in Tazewell, VA, a start-up YMCA which began in 2009 and soon expanded to two locations. Before Four Seasons he also served as the execuative director of the YMCA of Beaufort for over ten years. While down south he started the Beaufort County Physical Activity Coalition which included many organizations including hosptials and the county's recreational department. Tommy has a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science from Shorter University. He and his wife, Mary, are loving their new home Mount Desert Island. 

Kim O'Brien, Membership Operations Director,

Kim O'Brien was born and raised in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. She has a degree in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration. Kim is a certified Zumba Gold instructor and has American Red Cross certification to teach CPR/First Aid and Babysitting courses. Kim spent ten years in the U.S. Army Reserves/National Guard as a Personnel Officer and in Medical Administration. She and he husband Tim came to Maine in 1987 to run the Town Hill Country Store and the rest is history. Kim enjoys spending time with her two sons Cullen and Seamus as well as gardening, reading, baking and hiking the mountains of Acadia National Park. What Kim enjoys most about her job at the Y is watching the stories unfold in the Y family atmosphere; it makes her all warm and fuzzy inside.  Seeing the positive effect the Y's programming and community brings to people's lives directly influences Kim's drive and determination to make the MDI YMCA the best it can be.  Her personal goal for the Y is to bring the Y's core values and philosophy to a many people as she can reach.

Jill Reeves, Business Manager,
Business Director Jill Reeves grew up in a family of nine in Thorndike, Maine . She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Maine with a degree in Mass Communication and is a YMCA Senior
Director. Throughout her twenties, Jill worked as a Distributor Sales Representative for a building products manufacturer in Hartford, Connecticut and then went on to work for several years at a Recording Studio in New York City.  Jill loves to bike the park loop road at every opportunity and especially enjoys kayaking with her dogs Zivah and Hank. She loves relaxing up-ta-camp with her two boys and husband.

Mark Schoon, Healthy Living and Aquatics Director,
Aquatics Director Mark Schoon was born in Kittery, Maine but spent most of his childhood in Marion, Iowa with stops in Minnesota and Washington State. He attended Excelsior College and is a retired Chief Master Sergeant in the US Air Force.  An avid Sea Kayaker, Mark has taught at sea kayaking symposiums around the country, expeditioned above the Arctic Circle by sea kayak, kayaked in the Pacific, Great Lakes, Gulf of Mexico, the North Atlantic, the North Sea, the Arctic Ocean, as well as the sea surrounding England and Scotland.  At the Y, Mark is certified to teach swim lessons, and water fitness classes. He is a certified YMCA P.O.O.L. Operator (pool operator on location), a Red Cross Lifeguard, a YMCA Lifeguard and is also a Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor.  Mark enjoys camping, paddling, listening to music and spending time with his lovely wife as well as his loyal canine companions Duke and Sky. He most enjoys what he calls the 'unlocking of secrets' phenomenon that he often witnesses at the Y. Examples include - a child at first afraid of water, then growing to love it after a session of swim lessons; and witnessing a woman with Multiple Sclerosis exclaim, "I can dance again!" after trying an aqua Zumba class for the first time.  He loves our ability to have positive impact on people's lives from infancy to an advanced age.  Mark's goals for the future of the Y include his continuing effort to have the safest and most effective team of aquatic professionals around.

Chris Farley, Facilities Director,
Chris is a native of Mount Desert Island; he graduated MDI High School in 1991. He played sports all through his school career including: baseball, basketball and a short stent of football at MDI his freshman and sophomore years. After graduation he went straight into the work force. He became self employed in 2001 and had his own cleaning business expanding to a general contractor and caretaker for 38 apartments in four different complex's in the Ellsworth area. In 2014 he decided he needed a little change and went to work at Stanley Subaru in Trenton as the Facilities Director taking care of the buildings and grounds. In 2016 he decided it was time for yet another move in what he has come to find was an awesome decision in accepting the position at the MDI YMCA. He got remarried in 2013 to his wife Suzanne and acquired two awesome children. He has four beautiful daughters, Noel Farley who is 22, Kaitlyn Farley who is 18, Alyssa Farley who is 15, his stepdaughter Rady Linkel who is 18 and a handsome step son Reilly Linkel who is 15.  His kids are his life and he's thankful for each and everyone of them.

Jim Willis, Director Competitive Swimming,
Director of Competitive Swimming Jim Willis was born and raised in Brockton Mass. He has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Maine. Jim is a Level 4 ASCA Swim Coach, a 4-year Swim Team Letterman and has been the General Chair of Maine Swimming from 2008 – 2012. In 2000, he was a US Virgin Island Olympic Swim Coach.  Jim has been married for over ten years and has two children and a one-eyed cat. He loves to ski, hike, bike and practice tviking (that's watching TV while dreaming of skiing, hiking and biking!). Jim is especially proud that the Sharks Swim Team is consistently one of the best teams in the state. Jim says, "Our small community takes a lot of pride in our swim program through the continued high participation and through annually supporting our team's Aquathon. I just don't see any other similar sized community in the country that is able to put together and maintain what the Sharks have done for the past forty years."

Angelique Hodgdon, Child Care Director,
Angelique recently moved back to MDI from Falmouth with her family: husband Jason (also known as Krazy Jake) Hodgdon, and four children, Sean, Jack, Cal, and Grace. While in Falmouth she worked as a manager at Little Hands, a licensed child care provider for preschool/after school. 

Nick Tymoczko, Program Director,
Nick has been involved in a plethora of activities. He graduated from Springfield College with a degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education, with a minor in Health. He's taught physical education and worked the administrative end of summer camps in the Greater Boston area. Nick has also volunteered with at-risk youth through AmeriCorp; worked the Special Olympics; and spent the last two years in the Vermont woods leading wilderness therapy groups. He is looking forward to working with the families at the YMCA. Nick hails from Bucksport.

Demelza Ramirez, Marketing Director, or
Demelza grew up in Ellsworth and graduated Bangor Christian before heading out to Indiana for college. There she graduated from Taylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Writing. While at Taylor she worked on the university's newspaper staff as the Local Editor, wrote book reviews and daily inspirational readings for national Christian publications. Since joining the Y in 2014 Demelza has worked in the Child Care Department, Summer Camp, Membership Services, Marketing, and Teen and Kids Event nights. Currently Demelza is the Who's Cool After School program lead staff member. When not at the Y, Demelza participates heavily in community theater at The Grand in Ellsworth and the local chapter of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Maine where she is a Board Member. When not in theater productions she's hanging out with friends and participating in events put on by the Society of Creative Anachronism, a medieval enthusiast group.
